ROSEWOOD VENEER Circa 1840 Early frame made to house a 6th plate case photograph, also used for painted miniatures. Frame composed of three moldings: the outer cap molding; an ogee molding; and the flat liner at the sight edge. The outside edges and the back of the frame have old matte black paint. Mitered corners. Rich color. Old finish. Rabbet size 3 1/4" H x 3 1/4"W Sight size 3" by 2 1/2" Molding width 12 3/4 Molding height at outside edge 7/8 Condition: very good with some surface wear.
