EBONIZED RIPPLE FRAME WITH RIPPLE LINER
Circa 1870
  • American ripple frame with its original ebonized surface. A faint undercoating of red paint imitates the tortoise shell finishes of 17th Century Dutch frames. The rippled liner glows in a warm shade of gold. The frame retains its original size. The outside edges are painted dull black.
  • Rabbet size 11 1/4"H x 9"W
  • Sight size 10 5/8"H x 8 1/2"W
  • Overall size 13 5/8"H x 11 3/4"W
  • Molding width 1 5/8"
  • Depth at outside edge 3/4"
  • Condition: very good with slight surface wear. The liner appears to have a old light coating of gold paint over the original surface, which gleams through on the high edges.
