Mary Webster--Mid-Nineteenth Century Frames Stock #16 PAIR OF GILDED FRAMES

Circa 1870


  • Pair of frames in brilliant silver gilt, popularly known as lemon gold, over dark grey bole. Deep cove with two small scoops at sight edge; contrasting burnished and matte surfaces; top edge is ribbed and ends in a half round. Outside edges painted a dull mustard. Originally made to hold photographs, these frames would be suitable for any purpose.

  • Sight size 13 1/2"H x 10 1/2"W
  • Overall size 18 1/2"H x 15 1/2"W
  • Total molding width 2 1/2"
  • Depth at outside edge 2"
  • Condition: Very good, with some wear to the gilding, mostly on the high outside edge of the molding. The sight edge and inner scoop are in really good shape with minimal losses.
